液晶(LC)材料是指一種像液體一樣流動但是分子卻以類似晶體的方式取向的材料，液晶是一種介于傳統(tǒng)液體和固體晶體之間性能狀態(tài)的物質(zhì)。液晶材料可分為熱溶性、溶致性和金屬相液晶材料，熱致和溶致液晶材料主要由有機分子組成，但也有一些礦物是已知的。
